Lakes: 

A lake (derived from the Latin word 'Lacus') is a large body of water (larger and deeper than a pond) on land that is surrounded on all sides by landmasses. The lake cannot be interpreted as a sea as it is separate from the sea. Although lakes may not have the same flow as rivers, many of them have rivers flowing into and out of them.
