As per recent announcement, India will set up Consulate General in Auckland, New Zealand.
The Union Cabinet has given approval for the establishment of the Consulate General in Auckland.
This Consulate General will be completed and functional within 1 year.
India currently has a Consulate in Auckland.
The opening of the Consulate General will pave the way for the appointment of the Consul General.
An Indian Foreign Service officer is appointed to this post.
About 2.5 lakh people of Indian origin live in New Zealand.
Of these, 1.7 lakh people live in Auckland.
The Indian High Commission in New Zealand is located in Wellington.
The capital of New Zealand is Wellington.
Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand.
