  • The 5th and 6th ships of the ASW Shallow Water Craft (SWC) Project, named 'Agray' and 'Akshay', were launched on March 13, 2024, at M/S GRSE, Kolkata. These ships are being built by M/S GRSE for the Indian Navy.
  • Presided over by Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari.
  • The ASW SWC ships are part of the Arnala class and are designed to replace the in-service Abhay class ASW Corvettes of the Indian Navy. They are specifically engineered for anti-submarine operations in coastal waters, Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), and Mine Laying Operations. These ships are 77.6 meters long, 10.5 meters wide, with a displacement of 900 tons and an endurance of over 1800 NM.
  • The launch of these ships reflects India's commitment to 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' in shipbuilding. With over 80% indigenous content, these ships showcase the nation's resolve towards self-reliance in defence production, generating employment and enhancing capabilities within the country.
