Maharashtra becomes the first Indian state to purchase land in Jammu and Kashmir for constructing a facility to accommodate tourists and officials. This move marks a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations between the two regions and fostering tourism development.
The construction of Maharashtra Bhawan in central Kashmir's Budgam aims to provide comfortable accommodations and facilities for tourists and officials from Maharashtra visiting the Union Territory. This initiative underscores the state government's commitment to enhancing tourist infrastructure and promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Maharashtra cabinet has sanctioned the purchase of land measuring 2.5 acres in Ichgam, Budgam, for the construction of Maharashtra Bhawan. The government has allocated a budget of Rs 77 crore for constructing two state guesthouse facilities in Srinagar and Ayodhya, indicating a significant financial commitment to the project and the tourism sector.
