  • The birth of five cubs of cheetah 'Gamini' in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park marks a significant increase in the country's cheetah population, with the number of cats increasing to 26.
  • The female cheetah 'Gamini', which gave birth to cubs, was brought from the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve in South Africa. It highlights international cooperation in wildlife conservation and efforts to reintroduce cheetahs to India after extinction in the country.
  • Twenty cheetahs were brought to Kuno from South Africa and Namibia in September 2022 as part of the government's Project Cheetah. While seven of them have died since March 2023, the birth of 13 cubs since January this year has given the authorities an impetus. At present, the total number of cheetahs in Kuno National Park is 26.
