India has successfully conducted the first test of 'Mission Divyastra', in which the indigenously developed Agni-5 missile was first flight tested with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. This allows the same missile to specify several warheads in different places.
With the testing of Mission Divyastra, India has joined the select group of countries with MIRV capability. The system is equipped with indigenous avionics systems and high-precision sensor packages, which ensure that re-entry carriers reach the target points with desired accuracy.
