The Indian Navy commissions INS Jatayu, a strategically positioned naval base on Minicoy Island in Lakshadweep, enhancing surveillance capabilities and reducing turnaround time in the western seaboard.
INS Jatayu will play a crucial role in maintaining maritime domain awareness, straddling over important sea lanes of communication between Minicoy and Maldives, and the Lakshadweep island cluster.
Additionally, the Indian Navy commissions its first MH-60R helicopter squadron at Kochi, boosting maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, with plans to build an airstrip and create more accommodation at INS Jatayu.
