  • Paradip Port Authority (PPA) achieved a remarkable milestone in January 2024, surpassing the 14 million metric tonnes (MMT) mark for the first time in the history of major ports in India by handling a record volume of monthly cargo.
  • PPA's monthly cargo throughput in January 2024 reached 14.32 MMT, surpassing the earlier record of 13.5 MMT achieved in March 2023.
  • The Port is expected to set up an all-time record cargo handling of over 145 MMT in the current financial year, aiming to become the leading port in the country for the first time since its inception.
  • Coal handling constitutes about 44.49% of the total cargo volume handled in the port, while iron ore and pellet cargo has seen a significant increase of 59.42%.
  • Paradip port has recorded 738 shipping movements.
